Young Storytellers is all about amplifying the voices of young people and when we meet likeminded entities, we tend to stay close.
In January, a group of Young Storytellers students were treated to a sneak peek of Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time and wrote short scripts inspired by the film. Creatives from our friends at Tongal then turned some of their stories into short films that were screened alongside live performances at a special event at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. The Hollywood Reporter even covered the event, offering a great write-up of an inspirational afternoon.
To top it all off, director Ava DuVernay surprised our students and the filmmakers by announcing that they would attend the world premiere of A Wrinkle in Time. As you can see from the photos above, it was a night they will never forget (Oprah!).
Very special thanks to Ava DuVernay, Young Storytellers Board of Directors Vice-Chair Tendo NagendaAndre Fonseca and his team at Disney, & Erin Fredman and her team at Tongal for helping our Young Storytellers realize that their voices matter!
